GEORGE TOWN: A father charged with murdering his 7-year-old daughter and committing incest with his teenage daughter has been certified fit to stand trial.
Deputy public prosecutor Tan Guat Cheng told the magistrate's court yesterday that a report from Hospital Bahagia, Ulu Kinta, stated the 40-year-old was not insane.
Magistrate Ainul Bashiirah Dona Don Biyajid fixed Sept 11 for mention pending the DNA and post-mortem reports.
The man allegedly murdered his daughter, whose birth was not registered, at Medan Angsana 1, Bandar Baru Air Itam, between 7am and 7pm on Nov 11, 2004. He was then taken to the Sessions Court to face the charge of incest with his 14-year-old daughter at a male toilet at Level 6, Kompleks Farlim about 12.30pm on Feb 7.
Judge Rosilah Yop fixed Aug 24 for mention pending a medical report on the victim.

As usual, this trial will probably take years. Sadly, the girl is dead. Silver lining here would be the fact that she don't have to wait 9 years before she finds justice.
Can't say the same for the 14 year old though.
We really need to fast track child related cases. Especially for those cases in which the child needs protection. By fast tracking the case, the child will hopefully spend lesser time incarcerated in welfare homes. And the perpetrator will hopefully spend lesser time out on bail living his usual happy life.
If we can do it for one sodomite victim, why can't we do it for thousands of child victims in this country? No political will?
